2024 Draft Bill on the Special Region of Jakarta: Important Updates

Among the various mandates that are being introduced against a backdrop of the relocation of the state capital city of Indonesia (Ibu Kota Negara– “ IKN ”) from the Special Capital Region of Jakarta (Daerah Khusus Ibukota Jakarta– “ DKI Jakarta ”) to IKN Nusantara, East Kalimantan, as specifically addressed under Law No. 3 of 2022 on the Capital City, as amended by Law No. 21 of 2023 (collectively referred to as “ Law 3/2022 ”), is a mandate to amend and ultimately repeal and replace Law No. 29 of 2007 on the Governance of DKI Jakarta as the Indonesian State Capital (“ Law 29/2007 ”).
