A system of standards is only as good as the agencies tasked with applying and supervising these standards. Article 38(1) of Minister of Industry RegulationNo. 19/M-IND/PER/5/2006requires that the application and supervision of these Indonesian National Standards be performed by an appointed Assessment Agency. Prior to this Regulation,No. 20/M-IND/PER/5/2006there had yet to be any Assessment Agencies appointed to perform this critical task.
