The National Agency for Drug and Food Control (Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan– “ BPOM ”) recently issued Regulation No. 9 of 2022 on Requirements for Heavy Metal in Processed Foods (“ Regulation 9/2022 ”). The regulation was issued as part of efforts aimed at protecting the general public from any food contamination that exceeds the maximum prescribed levels and at boosting the competitiveness of the processed food industry.
