The National Agency of Drug and Food Control (Badang Pengawas Obat dan Makanan –“ BPOM ”) has decided to update provisions that address the use of two-dimensional (2D) barcodes (“ Barcodes ”) on food and drug products through the issuance of Regulation No. 22 of 2022 on the Application of 2D Barcodes for the Supervision of Drugs and Foods (“ Regulation 22/2022 ”). [1] Said provisions were previously set out under Regulation of BPOM No. 33 of 2018 (“ Regulation 33/2018 ”) [2] , which has now been repealed and replaced. [3]
