As Indonesia continues with its efforts to develop and implement its national criminal justice system through the application of a restorative justice approach [1] that prioritizes victim recovery instead of more punitive forms of justice, the Supreme Court (Mahkamah Agung– “ MA ”) has finally introduced Regulation No. 1 of 2024 on Guidelines for the Processing of Criminal Cases Based on Restorative Justice (“ Regulation 1/2024 ”), which has been in force since 7 May 2024.
