Compilation Procedures for the National Development Plan - Government Regulation

National Development Plans have figured prominently in Indonesia since Independence and particularly so during the New Order regime of the former President Soeharto. The rationale was, and remains, a simple one - state what the Government plans to do over the long term and then break it down into more manageable 5-year and 1-year plans. This serves to do two things - first set general and specific measurable goals and secondly to appease community demands for better standards of living and a more equitable division of national wealth. It is for this reason that the national development plan has been retained. On 29 November 2006 the Government confirmed RegulationNo. 40 of 2006to ensure the implementation of Article 27(1) ofLaw No. 25 of 2004.
