In 2025, the Indonesian Government introduced Regulation of the Government No. 17 of 2025 on the Governance of the Organization of Electronic Systems in Relation to Child Protection (“ Regulation 17/2025 ”). [1] As its title suggests, Regulation 17/2025 sets out the various obligations that electronic systems organizers (Penyelenggara Sistem Elektronik– “ PSE ”) are required to meet regarding the protection of children under 18 years of age who use or access electronic systems (“ Children ”). Said protections should encompass adequate technologies, as well as various technical operational measures that are put in place in relation to online products, services and features that are provided by PSE (collectively referred to as “ Online Services ”).
