In 2014, the Constitutional Court annulled Law No. 17 of 2012 on Cooperatives and demanded the re-enforcement of Law No. 25 of 1992 on Cooperatives (“ Cooperatives Law ”) until such time that a new law could be ultimately formulated which addressed the same matters. [1] In the intervening years, there has been growing demand from the public for the establishment of a new legal framework on cooperatives which is capable of accommodating the current Indonesian economic environment, since the Cooperatives Law is generally perceived as being rather outdated. [2]
