In 2023, Indonesia’s House of Representatives (Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat– “ DPR ”) and president officially issued Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code (“ Law 1/2023 ”), which is set to replace the now century-old Criminal Law Code (Kitab Undang-Undang Hukum Pidana/KUHP). [1] Law 1/2023 will officially come into force in 2026, with all of the necessary Implementing Regulations required to be issued by the end of 2025. [2]
