In line with the 2016 National Legislation Program, [1] the House of Representatives (“House”) is currently discussing the Draft Bill on Industrial Design(“Draft Bill”) which is expected to boost the competitiveness of Indonesia’s industrial sector by improving its level of industrial-design protection. [2] In order to realize this objective, the Draft Bill will revise various obsolete provisions set out under Law No. 31 of 2000 on Industrial Design (“Industrial Design Law”).In a nutshell, the Draft Bill incorporates a total of 92 articles and these accommodate a number of developments which have occurred in the field over the course of the last decade.
