Deliberations of the Draft Bill on Land (“ Draft Bill ”) have been ongoing since 2012 and have yet to be brought to a conclusion. [1] The Indonesian Government recently published the September 2019 version of the Draft Bill, which is ultimately expected to modify and amend (but not replace) several provisions that were originally set out under the long-standing Law No. 5 of 1960 on Basic Agrarian Provisions (“ Agrarian Law ”). [2] The Draft Bill represents a response and an attempt to find solutions to more recent agrarian-related problems. [3]
