Indonesia’s House of Representatives (Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat– “ DPR ”) recently incorporated the Draft Bill on Mother and Child Welfare (“ Draft Bill ”) into the 2022 National Legislation Program (Program Legislasi Nasional/Prolegnas). [1] According to DPR Chairman, Puan Maharani, the Draft Bill has been prioritized as part of attempts to develop excellent human resources within Indonesia. [2] Moreover, the Chairman of the Indonesian Breastfeeding Mothers Association (Asosiasi Ibu Menyusui Indonesia/AIMI), Nia Umar, has praised the DPR’s efforts, stating that if the Draft Bill ultimately becomes law, then it will undoubtedly improve the welfare of mothers and children while also strengthening the national economy.
