Draft Regulation on Food Additives: New Approval, Testing, Licensing and Sanction Requirements for Food Additives Businesses

The Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan– “ BPOM ”) is preparing a Draft Regulation (“ Draft Regulation ”) on Food Additives (Bahan Tambahan Pangan– “ BTP ”), which will revoke and replace Regulation of BPOM No. 11 of 2019 (“ Regulation 11/2019 ”). [1] The Draft Regulation is issued to implement the Government Regulation on Food Safety as amended in 2026, and to accommodate changes to the groups, types and maximum limits of BTP. [2]
