In 2014, the Minister of Law and Human Rights (“ Minister ”) introduced Regulation No. 8 of 2014 on Regular Passports and Passport Replacement Travel Letters, which was subsequently amended by Regulation of the Minister No. 18 of 2022 (collectively referred to as “ Regulation 8/2014 ”). As its title suggests, Regulation 8/2014 outlines the applicable prerequisites for Indonesian nationals for the securing and issuance of regular passports (“ Passports ”) and passport replacement travel letters (Surat Perjalanan Laksana Paspor– “ SPLP ”). It should be noted that the Amendment to Regulation 8/2014 was previously summarized in the following edition of Indonesian Legal Brief (“ ILB ”): “ Provisions on Applications for and Issuance and Procurements of Regular Passports and Passport Replacement Travel Letters Amended: Passport Validity Period Extended to 10 Years ”.
