In order to enhance safety, security and law enforcement within Indonesian waters and jurisdictions (“ Maritime Security ”), the Government has finally issued Regulation No. 13 0f 2022 on the Organization of Security, Safety and Law Enforcement Within Indonesian Waters and Jurisdictions (“ Regulation 13/2022 ”). [1] As its title suggests, Regulation 13/2022 addresses organization of Maritime Security, which is to be jointly implemented by the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (“ Minister ”) and the Indonesian Maritime Security Agency (Badan Keamanan Laut– “ Bakamla ”) in conjunction with related/technical agencies.
