In early December 2023, the Minister of Communication and Informatics (“ Minister ”) had begun drafting a Draft Circular (“ Draft Circular ”) on Ethical Guidelines for Artificial Intelligence (“ AI ”), which if it finally comes into force, aims to ensure that AI technology has ultimately a positive impact on relevant parties whilst simultaneously mitigating any negative impacts or losses that may arise from the use of said technology. [1] It should be noted that Hukumonline’s Legal Research and Analysis Team previously summarized the various AI-utilization mandates that are featured under the Draft Circular in the following edition of Indonesian Legal Brief (“ ILB ”): “ Six Forms of Ethical Values Introduced for the Use of Artificial Intelligence Technologies ”.
