Expanded BSU Coverage: Workers in 25 Provinces with Higher Minimum Wages Now Eligible for Single Lump-Sum Subsidy

In 2022, the Minister of Manpower (“ Minister ”) introduced a framework that is now serving as a set of guidelines for the provision of government aid in the form of salary/wage subsidies (bantuan subsidi upah– “ BSU ”) for workers through the introduction of Regulation of the Minister No. 10 of 2022 (“ Regulation 10/2022 ”). Generally speaking, Regulation 10/2022 stated that the goal of the BSU program is to maintain workers’ purchasing power and ensure that their daily needs are fulfilled amid the ongoing spike in inflation.
