In an effort to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of Indonesia’s environmental licensing processes, the government previously delegated several licensing and environmental approval authorities from the Minister of Environmental Affairs/Head of the Environmental Control Agency (“ Minister ”) to regional governments through the issuance of Decree of the Minister No. 136 of 2024 on the Assignment of Environmental Approval Processes from Central Authorities to Provinces and Regencies/Cities to Support the Implementation of Business Licensing (“ Decree 136/2024 ”).
