From Trash to Treasure: New Framework Introduced on Securing Import Recommendations for Non-Hazardous and Non-Toxic Waste

After appraising the health, safety and environmental aspects of Indonesia’s rapidly expanding industrial sector and the materials required in order to supply industry, the Minister of Industry (“ Minister ”) has issued Regulation No. 39 of 2024 (“ Regulation 39/2024 ”) on Procedures for the Granting of Recommendations for Imports of Non-Hazardous and Non-Toxic Waste (Non Bahan Berbahaya dan Beracun– “ Non-B3 ”) as Raw Industrial Materials (“ Non-B3 Waste ”), [1] which has been in force since 17 September 2024.
