Government Grants Salary/Wage Subsidies to Employees Affected by COVID-19

In a bid to realize Regulation of the Government No. 23 of 2020 on the Implementation of the National Economic Recovery Program in Order to Support State Financial Policies for the Mitigation of the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Pandemic and/or to Deal With Threats That Are Potentially Harmful to the National Economy and/or the Stability of the Financial System as Well as to Save the National Economy (“ Regulation 23/2020 ”), which was amended through the issuance of Regulation of the Government No. 43 of 2020 (“ Regulation 43/2020 ”), [1] the Minister of Manpower (“ Minister ”) recently issued Regulation No. 14 of 2020 (“ Regulation 14/2020 ”). This new regulation sets out a framework for the provision of government assistance in the form of salary/wage subsidies (“ Subsidies ”) in an attempt to protect, maintain and increase the economic power of employees/laborers (“ Employees ”) as part of efforts to handle the ongoing impacts of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
