The previous issuance of Regulation of President No. 55 of 2019 on the Acceleration of the Battery-Powered Electric-Motor Vehicle for Road Transportation Program (“ Regulation 55/2019 ”) has resulted in the government issuing various legal frameworks that have been introduced in order to boost the uptake of Battery-Power Electric Vehicles (“ BEV ”) across Indonesia. [1] The latest legal framework that addresses these issues is Circular of the Minister of Trade No. 03 of 2023 on the Provision of Public Electric-Vehicle Charging Stations and Priority Parking Spots for Battery-Power Electric Vehicles in Shopping Centers (“ Circular 3/2023 ”), which aims to support and expedite the BEV-based transportation framework program (“ Program ”) originally addressed under Regulation 55/2019.
