Govt. Further Amends Import Regime for Forestry Products

The Ministry of Trade (“ Ministry ”) has issued Regulation No. 13 of 2018 (“ Amendment ”) which amends Ministry Regulation No. 97/M-DAG/PER/11/2015 on Import Provisions for Forestry Products (“ Regulation 97/2015 ”) for the second time. [1] Regulation 97/2015 was amended once previously through the issuance of Ministry Regulation No. 91/2017 on the same matter (“ Regulation 91/2017 ”). [2] In essence, the Amendment relaxes the previous import mechanisms but at the same time strengthens supervision of forestry-product imports (“ Products ”) through stricter post-border supervisory measures. [3] With this goal in mind, the Amendment adjusts several provisions which pertain to the following areas:
