Govt. Introduces Safety Measures for the Utilization of Motorcycle Ride-Hailing Services

In order that motorcycles be used in a safer, more comfortable and more affordable way that takes the public interest into account, the Minister of Transportation (“ Minister ”) has issued Regulation on User Safety Protection for Motorcycles Utilized in the Public Interest (“ Regulation 12/2019 ”). [1] In essence, Regulation 12/2019 introduces a number of new safety provisions for motorcycles which are used in the public interest (“ Public Motorcycles ”), whether through application-based ride-hailing services (ojek online) or non-application-based services (ojek pangkalan).
