Govt. Set Minimum Technical Criteria Needed for the Preparation of WP, WIUP, and WIUPK

In 2023, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (“ Minister ”) issued Regulation No. 14 of 2023 (“ Regulation 14/2023 ”) which, in essence set out the applicable procedures for the assignment of investigations and research for the preparation of Mining Areas (Wilayah Pertambangan– “ WP ”), Mining Business License Areas (Wilayah Izin Usaha Pertambangan– “ WIUP ”) and Special WIUP (“ WIUPK ”). Following the enforcement of this framework, the Minister has now decided to introduce a set of guidelines for the implementation of the above assignments of investigations and research for the preparation of WP, WIUP and WIUPK (“ Assignments ”) through the issuance of Decree No. 54.K/MB.01/MEM.B/2024 (“ Decree 54/2024 ”), which has been in force since 18 March 2024.
