
Halal Certification Made Easier: UMK with Sales of up to Rp. 15 Billion Now Eligible for Self-Declared Halal Certification
The Head of the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Produk Halal/BPJPH) recently introduced a new set of technical instructions that address the organization of halal certification services for Micro- and Small-Scale Business Actors (Usaha Mikro dan Kecil– “ UMK ”) that are based on halal statements through the issuance of Decree No. 146 of 2025 (“ Decree 146/2025 ”), which officially came into force on 8 July 2025. [1] Upon its enforcement, Decree 146/2025 simultaneously repealed and replaced the previous framework of Decree No. 150 of 2022 , as amended by Decree No. 22 of 2023 (collectively referred to as “ Decree 150/2022 ”), which bore the same title and addressed the same matters as Decree 146/2025.
