The government has decided to improve the overall quality and speed of Indonesia’s broadband internet access, as high-quality broadband is seen as essential for effective radiofrequency spectrum management, as outlined under the country’s 2025 - 2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (Rencana Pembangunan Jangka Menengah Nasional/RPJMN). In order to achieve this goal, the Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs (“ Minister ”) is currently preparing a Draft Regulation (“ Draft Regulation ”) that will serve as the basis for the utilization of the 2.6 GHz radiofrequency band in accordance with International Mobile Telecommunications (“ IMT ”) standards.
