Implementation of Hostage-Taking by the Directorate-General Customs and Excise

The Director-General of Customs and Excise (“ Director-General ”) has issued Regulation on Guidelines for Hostage-Taking within the Directorate-General Customs and Excise (“ Regulation 8/2018 ”). Regulation 8/2018 serves as a set of guidelines for the implementation of hostage-taking (penyanderaan) by the relevant customs and excise officials (“ Officials ”), as mandated by Regulation of the Minister of Finance [1] on Procedures for the Collection of Import Duty and/or Excise, as amended by Regulation of the Minister of Finance .In essence, Regulation 8/2018 addresses several provisions which pertain to the following matters:
