In order to follow up the investigations and recommendations made by the Indonesian Trade Safeguard Committee (Komisi Pengamanan Perdagangan Indonesia), [1] the Ministry of Finance (“Ministry”) has finally lowered the tariff of the safeguard import duty (Bea Masuk Tindakan Pengamanan– “BMTP”) through Regulation No. 130/PMK.010/2017 on the Imposition of Safeguard Import Duty upon Imports of Flat-Rolled Iron Products or Non-Alloy Steel (“Regulation 130/2017”). [2] Prior to the issuance of Regulation 130/2017, these same matters were regulated under Ministry Regulation No. 137.1/PMK.011/2014 on the Imposition of Safeguard Import Duty upon Imports of Flat-Rolled Iron or Non-Alloy-Steel (“Regulation 137/2014”), which was valid between 2014 and 2017. [3] The BMTP [4] as described in Regulation 130/2017 will be imposed in accordance with the following provisions:
