Indonesia Finally Ratifies Apostille Convention Abolishing the Legalization Requirement for Foreign Legal Documents

In line with efforts targeted at improving Indonesia’s ease of doing business, the government is aiming to simplify the processes involved in the legalization of foreign public documents. Therefore, through the issuance of Regulation of the President No. 2 of 2021 (“ Regulation 2/2021 ”), the government has finally ratified the Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents, as adopted under The 1961 Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents [1] (“ Apostille Convention ”).
