Considering, Indonesia's insistence on securing greater levels of investment and greater protections for any investments made as a means of driving economic growth and prosperity the ratifying of this agreement has been a long time in the making. On 16 February 2005 the Indonesian and Singaporean Governments signed an agreement that would ensure greater levels of bilateral investment between the countries and once those investments are made greater levels of protection for them. This agreement has finally been ratified in Presidential RegulationNo. 6 of 2006issued on 1 February 2006.
