Indonesian Diaspora Urged to Confirm Citizenship: New Regulation on Citizenship Confirmation Procedures Introduced

In an effort to ensure legal certainty for Indonesian citizens living abroad who lack or who possess incomplete citizenship documents, the Minister of Law (“issuance ofRegulation of Minister of Law No. 6 2025 (“ Regulation 6/2025 ”), which was officially enacted on 21 February 2025. [1] It is also important to note that the electronic implementation of the citizenship confirmation process, as addressed under the framework of Regulation 6/2025, should be executed within one month of this new Regulation being officially enacted.
