The Ministers for Religious Affairs, Labor and Transmigration and State Administrative Reform have released a Joint Decision amending previous 2005 decision stipulating the national holidays and joint annual leaves for 2006 (see ILB. In addition to the joint annual leave to be taken around the Iedul Fitri national holiday (23, 26 and 27 October), the Government now adds the 31 March, 26 May, 18 August. These are previously working days next to Hindu Bali Seclusion Day (Nyepi), Ascension Day ad the Independence Day. The rationale for this joint annual leave is supposedly to increase effective efficiency and productivity across all public and private services and enterprises.
