Indonesia’s Personal Data Protection (“ PDP ”) landscape saw a significant milestone being achieved in October 2022 with the establishment of Law No. 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection (“ Law 27/2022 ”), which sets out a comprehensive regulatory framework on the governance of PDP-related matters. [1] However, in addition to addressing numerous requirements regarding personal data processing activities, Law 27/2022 also mandates the formation of an agency that will assume responsibility for PDP oversight within Indonesia. This new agency will be established by and report to the president. [2]
