In 2022, the Minister of Transportation (“ Minister ”) introduced Regulation No. 18 of 2022 (“ Regulation 18/2022 ”) on Automatic Identification Systems (“ AIS ”) for Vessels Sailing in Indonesian Waters, which, as its title suggests, mandates that Indonesian-flagged and foreign vessels (collectively referred to as “ Vessels ”) operating in Indonesian waters should install and activate their AIS.
