Back in 2021, the Minister of Trade (“ Minister ”) integrated the import policies and provisions that apply to various commodities under Regulation of the Minister No. 20 of 2021 and its Amendment (jointly referred to as “ Regulation 20/2021 ”). [1] Now, the Minister has decided to revise a number of provisions originally set out under Regulation 20/2021 through the issuance of the new Regulation of the Minister No. 36 of 2023 on Import Policy and Provisions (“ Regulation 36/2023 ”), which are designed to strengthen the effectiveness of import controls. [2] Aside from the repeal and replacement of Regulation 20/2021, Regulation 36/2023 also affects several other regulations, specifically: [3]
