Following the issuance of Ministry of Trade Regulation No. 77/M-DAG/PER/11/2016 on Import Provisions for Tires, [1] the Ministry of Industry recently issued Regulation No. 01/M-IND/PER/1/2017 on Procedures for the Issuance of Import-Approval Recommendations for Tires (“Regulation 1/2017”) in a bid to implement an effective monitoring regime within the industry and also to boost the competitiveness of domestic tire production. [2] With these objectives in mind, Regulation 1/2017 sets out various guidelines for importers of tires relating to the securing of import-approval recommendations.
