New Environmental Provisions for Ocean Waste Dumping

Provisions which address the issue of ocean waste dumping (“ Dumping ”) have finally been regulated by the Minister of Environmental Affairs and Forestry (“ Minister ”) through the issuance of Regulation No. P.12/MENLHK/SETJEN/KUM.1/4/2018 on Requirements and Procedures for Ocean Waste Dumping (“ Regulation 12/2018 ”).Regulation 12/2018 functions as an implementing regulation to Regulation of the Government on the Control of Pollution and/or Ocean Damage, as well as Regulation of the Government [1] on the Management of Toxic and Hazardous Waste Substances. [2] In essence, Regulation 12/2018 addresses the following matters:
