New Guidelines for Land Use and Forest Area Conversions Introduced for Batam Free-Trade Zone

With the overall goal of encouraging and enhancing investment, particularly within the Batam Free-Trade Zone and Free-Port Area(Kawasan Perdagangan Bebas dan Pelabuhan Bebas– “ KPBPB ”), land provision will be managed in alignment with the relevant designated functions and spatial planning(Rencana Tata Ruang Wilayah– “ RTRW ”)that apply within this region. In order to achieve this objective, the president has decided to introduce Regulation No. 21 of 2025 on the Management of Land Provision in KPBPB Batam (“ Regulation 21/2025 ”), which has been in force since 27 March 2025.
