The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (“Ministry”) has issued Regulation No. 1/PERMEN-KP/2017 on Operational Feasibility Certificates for Fishing Vessels (“Regulation 1/2017”) in a bid to ensure that all fishing vessels are in a fit and proper condition to be able to engage in their various fisheries activities and operations. [1] With this ultimate goal in mind, Regulation 1/2017 updates a number of provisions which relate to operational feasibility certificates for fishing vessels (surat laik operasi kapal perikanan– “SLO”).
