The Minister of Forestry has issued Regulation No. P.20/Menhut-II/2012 on Forest Carbon Organizing (“Regulation”) in order to optimize the utility of the forest in reducing emissions. The reason for this is that the forests absorb carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere, and conserve carbon supplies, which mitigates global climate changes.
