The President of the Republic of Indonesia recently issued Regulation No. 8 of 2026 (“ Regulation 8/2026 ”) on the National Action Plan for the Prevention of and Countermeasures to Violent Extremism Leading to Terrorism (Rencana Aksi Nasional Pencegahan dan Penanggulangan Ekstremisme Berbasis Kekerasan yang Mengarah pada Terorisme– “ RAN PE ”) for 2026 – 2029. As its title suggests, Regulation 8/2026 sets out a four-year implementation period for the RAN PE, which will serve as a comprehensive set of guidelines during that period for application by both central and regional governments, while also encouraging public participation.
