The Geothermal Law (Law No. 27 of 2003) provides for preliminary surveys of geothermal reserves to be carried out. This is regulated in Article 10(3) and the purpose of the survey is not simply to assess total reserves but to analyze and collate the data in such a manner as to provide meaningful indications relating to the geophysical, geochemical, and geological elements of Indonesia's geothermal reserves. In order to facilitate the implementation of this Article the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources has issued RegulationNo. 005 of 2007.
