The Minister of Industry has issued Regulation No. 19/M-IND/PER/3/2016 on the Granting of Import Recommendations for Complementary Goods, Goods for Market Testing and After-Sales Service (“2016 Regulation”).In essence, the 2016 Regulation sets out the various requirements and procedures involved in the securing of import recommendations from the Minister. An import recommendation is one of the supporting documents required in order to import complementary goods and goods for market testing, as well as goods for the carrying out of after-sales service (“Goods”).The 2016 Regulation is of relevance to importers of Goods.Import RecommendationsGoods can be imported by holders of Producer Importer Identification Numbers (Angka Pengenal Importir - Produsen–“API-P”). [1] Before being allowed to import any Goods, an importer must first apply for import approval from the Minister of Trade by lodging an application via the inatrade.kemendag.go.id portal.
