The National Agency of Drugs and Food Control (Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan –“ BPOM ”) recently issued Regulation of the BPOM No. 7 of 2018 on the Prohibition of Certain Raw Materials in Processed Foods (“ Regulation 7/2018 ”), with the ultimate objective of protecting the general public from any raw materials which do not satisfy minimum safety, quality and nutritional requirements. [1] With this goal in mind, Regulation 7/2018 sets out a list of raw materials and compounds (senyawa) which are prohibited from being incorporated into any processed foods which are distributed in Indonesia.Prohibited Raw Materials and CompoundsIn principle, Regulation 7/2018 prohibits all processed foods which are produced in and imported into Indonesia from containing any of the following materials: [2]
