Provisions on Cosmetics Production and Distribution Supervision Revised: Refillable Cosmetics Products Now Subject to BPOM Supervision

In an effort to ensure that the supervision of cosmetics production and distribution (“ Supervision ”) mechanisms are in line with the current legal requirements and technological advances within the cosmetics sector, the National Agency of Drug and Food Control (Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan– “ BPOM ”) has issued Regulation No. 12 of 2023 on the Supervision of Cosmetics Production and Distribution (“ Regulation 12/2023 ”), which repealed and replaced the previous framework of Regulation of BPOM No. 2 of 2020 on the date of its promulgation, specifically 28 March 2023.
