Provisions on IMEI Identification Updated in Efforts to Block Illegal Telecommunications Devices

TheMinister of Communications and Informatics (“ Minister ”) has updated the legal framework for the control of telecommunications equipment and/or devices which connect to cellular mobile networks through the use of International Mobile Equipment Identities (“ IMEI ”) through the issuance of Regulation No. 1 of 2020 (“ No. 11 of 2019 (“ Regulation 11/2019 ”) which set out the previous framework for the control of telecommunications equipment and/or devices connected to cellular mobile networks through the identification of IMEI.
