Back in 2002, the government issued Decree of the President No. 33 of 2002 on the Control and Supervision of Marine Sand Businesses (“ Decree 33/2002 ”), which addressed the applicable prerequisites for business actors as regards the management of marine sands. However, in an effort to further regulate the ongoing utilization of marine resources and to ultimately establish a healthier marine environment, the government has now issued Regulation No. 26 of 2023 on the Management of Marine Sedimentation Byproducts (“ Regulation 26/2023 ”). [1] This newly introduced regulation has been in force since 15 May 2023 and simultaneously repealed and replaced Decree 33/2002 upon its enforcement. [2]
