The Nuclear Energy Supervisory Agency (Badan Pengawas Tenaga Tenaga Nuklir– “ BAPETEN ”) has updated the legal framework for the management of aging nuclear reactors (“ Management ”) through the issuance of Regulation No. 5 of 2022 (“ Regulation 5/2022 ”). [1] Previously, similar matters were addressed under the framework of Regulation of BAPETEN No. 8 of 2008 on Safety Provisions for the Management of Aging Non-Power Reactors (“ Regulation 8/2008 ”), which has now been repealed and replaced.
