The National Agency of Drug and Food Control (Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan– “ BPOM ”) has updated a number of provisions that address the supervision of food and drug products that are circulated online through the issuance of Regulation No. 14 of 2024 (“ Regulation 14/2024 ”). Regulation 14/2024 has been in force since 5 August 2024 and revokes the previous framework to cover these matters, specifically Regulation No. 8 of 2020 on the Supervision of Drugs and Food Circulated Online, which aimed to protect the public from the risks associated with any unsafe online distribution of food and drug products and which was subsequently amended by Regulation No. 32 of 2020 (collectively referred to as “ Regulation 8/2020 ”).
