In response to a recent estimate made by cybersecurity company Fortinet which asserted that Indonesia sustained more than 1.65 million cyber incidents (“ Incidents ”) throughout the final quarter of 2022 alone, [1] the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (Badan Siber dan Sandi Negara– “ BSSN ”), in its 2022 annual report, predicted that Indonesia will potentially face several types of Incidents in 2023 based on a currently rising trend, including: 1) Ransomware attacks; 2) Data breaches; 3) Advanced persistent threats; 4) Phishing; and 5) Crypto-jacking.
